the songs that made me

I believe music is one of the greatest gifts God gave humanity. Melodies express emotions. Lyrics express stories or feelings. All of it together creates a force of powerful self-expression. Nostalgia. Solidarity.

We all have songs that helped get us through rough patches. Or that can instantly bring us back to a moment 15 years ago with one strum of a guitar. Songs that changed the way we think, or articulated our feelings far better than we could.

Music has shaped much of my life. My parents met because of music. Growing up, I developed self-confidence through music. I have songs that taught truth, that represent life phases, and that helped me navigate when I couldn’t see.

These are my songs; the songs that made me. They’re not in any particular order, because I’m constantly revisiting the impact they made, revisiting their memories, revisiting their truths. They’re a part of me. If any of these are also a part of you, let me know! What a cool connection that would be.
