the eighth month
8 months with our joyful little man!
Gosh, we love being Asa’s parents. He’s the best.
He’s in 9m clothes for sleepers and 12m clothes for outfits (or clothes that don’t stretch). Size 3 diapers but about to jump to size 4!
He drinks 3 8oz bottles a day, plus one BF session in the morning when he wakes up but otherwise Mom is pumping and we’ve added formula into the mix (Mom says hallelujah).
He’s still mostly indifferent to food but will tolerate most purees, his favorite is Apple, Pumpkin, Quinoa, and Cinnamon from Lidl. Tolerates eggs, maybe likes greek yogurt, does not care for toast. He makes the best faces when he tries a new texture or we switch to a second food.
He sits really well on his own now! He’s content to sit and play in his playpen for 20-30 minutes at a time before he wants our company. No indication that he wants to crawl yet, he’s still content to sit and roll around like a gas station hot dog.
He really likes “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” and will stare at whoever’s reading it to him while you say the “We’re going on a bear hunt, we’re gonna catch a big one, what a beautiful day! We’re not scared” part and look away for the other parts. It’s the funniest thing and we don’t know why he does it. I’ve taken to reciting it to him while I put on his lotion at night to distract him (he still does not like lotion).
He loves to crunch and plank when he’s laying on his back. He just lifts his head up and slightly lifts up his legs and goes rigid. Most people say that’s a first for them lol
He usually takes 3 naps a day: one at 8:30-9, one at 12-12:30, and one at 4. He will occasionally go pretty long for the middle nap but lately is back to his short nap ways (hopefully a regression, growth spurt, leap, or something of the like).
He loves to stand when you’re holding him and “jump,” he also does this in his high chair. Just gets excited and kinda rocks back and forth like he wants to get going.
He’s not quite reaching up when he wants one of us to pick us up, but he does stick his arms straight out for that purpose.
Whenever he’s being held, he likes to have his left arm straight out behind him (for balance).
He graduated to sitting in the cart at the grocery store! Costco with Lorelei was his first big boy cart experience. He loves being able to see more!
He took his first flight to Cedar Rapids for Mom’s cousin Mario’s wedding! Mommy and Daddy were nervous but he did great. Having Grandpa, Grandpa, Uncle Matthew, and Aunt Kendall flying with us certainly helped too! He played on his blanket on the floor while we were waiting to board, drank his bottle during takeoff, and fell asleep on Daddy soon after. He was surprisingly not cranky for an 8:10 pm takeoff (rather past his bedtime).
